Confession is held in the reconciliation room of our parish narthex.
The Liturgy: In the Church's liturgy the divine blessing is fully revealed and communicated. The Father is acknowledged and adored as the source and the end of all the blessings of creation and salvation. In his Word who became incarnate, died, and rose for us, he fills us with his blessings. Through his Word, he pours into our hearts the Gift that contains all gifts, the Holy Spirit. Catechism of the Catholic Church 1082
Prayer and Prayer Group: ·Requests for prayer or to be added to our prayer list (permission must be granted to post names) can be made by calling or emailing our parish office. ·Please call or email if you would like to join our Parish Prayer Chain as we pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ and for those they love. ·Special intentions and prayer requests can be written in our Book of Intentions placed before the statue of Mary in the Church. This book will be available during weekend and daily Masses. Fr. Ruben will place it on the altar each Thursday during Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Requesting a Mass Intention: It is an ancient Christian tradition for the faithful to give an offering to apply a Mass for their intention. We are happy to receive your personal intention request for a particular time and date.
Please stop by the Parish Office, email your intentions stpeter-aurora@rockforddiocese.org, send by mail or drop in the collection basket.
Please note, if the date and time requested already has an intention, you are encouraged, to come to Mass on that particular day and offer it privately for your personal intention.
The Law of the Church also provides for an alternative. We can take the donation for your intention and send it to the Diocese of Rockford who will in turn direct it to a place they deem appropriate and is in need.
It is entirely up to you to decide the amount that you want to give and, even, if you cannot make a donation, we will be happy to offer Mass for the intention you request.
We ask that you be mindful of the fact that other people may want to request weekend Mass intentions and, therefore, we ask one weekend Mass, one Thursday evening Mass and the balance, if any, to be said at a Daily Mass (8:00 am Monday - Friday)
We ask you to refrain from requesting “secret or personal intentions”.
Mass cards in English or Spanish are available for you to send to a loved one or family noting the date of the Mass Intention.
Please call or visit our Parish Office. We will be happy to help you schedule your Mass Intentions.
Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Thursday: 8:30 am - 6:45 pm
The Sacraments The whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the sacraments. There are seven sacraments in the Church: Baptism, Confirmation or Chrismation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony.
Sacraments are "powers that come forth" from the Body of Christ, which is ever-living and life-giving. They are actions of the Holy Spirit at work in his Body, the Church. They are "the masterworks of God" in the new and everlasting covenant. Catechism of the Catholic Church 1113 & 1116
The Sacrament of Baptism Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in theword. Catechism of the Catholic Church 1213
Congratulations on the birth of your child! Please visit our Parish Office (also available in the narthex of our church) to obtain a Baptism registration form (English & Spanish available). The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion.
